The P.R.E.H.P. Houses

A Place for Campus Ministry Leaders

prehp

The P.R.E.H.P. House is geared toward college students who have matriculated and grown in their spiritual walk with Christ and as well in their collegate endeavors. These students exemplify a passion to serve Christ at a new level as stewards and leaders. In the P.R.E.H.P. house, students learn and develop essential life skills focused in the primary areas of budgeting, daily household responsibilities and family living. Meanwhile preparing the students to advance to life after college, family, careers, and responsibility.

The mission of the PREHP House is to prepare individuals for Christ’s return, and is centered around five lampstands (Psalm 119:105), to keep them focused on Christ. The five lampstands are Priesthood, Reverence, Elect, Honor, and Privilege. These lampstands must be manifested in each individual before consideration of residency within the home.

Priesthood

Priesthood is the first lamp of the PREHP House and refers to the Levite Priesthood of the Old Testament (Numbers 3, 8, 18). The Levites were a special people chosen by God. “Now behold, I Myself have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn who opens the womb among the children of Israel. Therefore the Levites shall be Mine, because all the firstborn are Mine. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They shall be Mine: I am the LORD” (Numbers 3:12-13). The Levites then took on the duty of serving God. “At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to Him and to bless in His name, to this day” (Deuteronomy 10:8). That service of the Levite priests included serving the Priests of the Temple. “And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the work for the children of Israel in the tabernacle of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near the sanctuary” (Numbers 8:19). Residents of the home should model themselves to the Levite lifestyle of dedication and consecration to service of The Lord.

Reverence

Reverence is the second lampstand of the house, and is defined as a feeling or attitude of deep respect and the outward manifestation of that feeling. Psalm 119:120 says, “My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws.” This should be our constant attitude and heart towards God and His house. Thus, behavior in the home, its treatment, and each individual’s lifestyle should exemplify reverence for God.

Elect

Elect is the third lampstand of the house. Colossians 3:12 says, “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering.” Each individual should view themselves as the elect, not in pride, but in humility. The humility should derive from the remembrance of God’s choosing him or her to uphold His vision for His home and that election should, as with all lampstands, be exemplified in every aspect of life.

Honor

Honor is the fourth lampstand. “Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the King” (1 Peter 2:17). The PREHP House should not be viewed as a standard living arrangement or dormitory, but as a temple of God.

Priveledge

Therefore, all residents should see the honor and privilege, which is the fifth lamp, of residing in the home. As stated, unlike common college living arrangements, the PREHP House does not allow for standards of living which do not exemplify God’s glory and righteousness. Hence, if the standards of priesthood, reverence, elect, honor, and privilege are not withheld, and the light of one of these lamps dies, individuals are in jeopardy of receiving probationary stay at the home until standards are met, and possible eviction.
